A playful, joyous quality infuses the art of Ojai artist Howard Lamar. His work can be found in private and public collections internationally. Lamar has come a long way from his early “exhibitions,” which were nothing more than small watercolors, largely impressionist landscapes, arrayed on a blanket. Over the years, his art has changed dramatically, reflecting the fulfillment he found with his wife Adona, and later, his family. The viewer finds elements of Chagall, Matisse and Picasso, but always those elements are given a new, fresh expression bursting with color and instantly recognizable.
