Learning To See Outreach (LTS) receives funding through the VibeWell Ventura County Arts & Wellness Grant Program to help address mental health needs of our students through art.
We will provide 25 classrooms with our new Beat the Odds+ program that integrates the power of contemporary drum circles where students connect with their own rhythms and those of others. They build core strengths such as focus and listening, team building, expressing feelings, and managing stress, while fostering empathy, kindness, and gratitude.
Each of the ten 1-hour lessons per classroom include drum circle experiences and hands-on creation of instruments, while learning about percussion in different cultures, the science of sound and the interconnection of math and rhythm.
