David Gallup

Painter

Portrait © Donna Granata 2011

David Gallup, plein air painter and teacher, creates works that exquisitely capture a sense of place. A broad color palette and multi-layered paint only partially describe the paintings that explore nature’s character in the fog, rain, glare and darkness. David is a much sought-after educator who delights in taking a boat load of artists to the Channel Islands and who encourages each student to look for the spirit of nature. Paintings from trips to the islands were featured at The Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine in 2011 and at the Museum of Ventura County’s exhibit celebrating the 25th anniversary of Channel Islands National Park in 2006.

David Gallup’s in-depth oral history and documentation took place in 2011, Co-sponsored by Roxie Ray and An Anonymous Donor. The AfterGlow was hosted by Kevin and Christine Beirne. The FOTM Archive contains extensive information about this artist.
