A Conversation with David Furman
Sunday, October 18, 2020 – 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Ceramist David Furman draws inspiration from his personal experiences and the explorations of the world around him. His hyperrealism and trompe l’oeil techniques fool the eye into believing you are seeing actual assembled objects, such as a rusty box of tools, a plate of cheese and crackers or a bowl of nuts complete with a nutcracker. When in fact each object is skillfully crafted in clay. The artist has received numerous fellowships and honors from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts and Fulbright Program and has served as the U.S. State Department’s cultural envoy to Honduras.
