At Focus on the Masters we believe in the power of the arts to transform lives and connect one another through our shared humanity. We strive to bring the humanities behind the art to life through our programs. With your support, we can continue to increase arts access in the schools and throughout our community. Your donations support the programs that are the heart of our mission, to document and archive extraordinary artists and their work and to present this work to a broad public through extensive education outreach to all ages, including:

Archive & Library – Contains more than 2,600 local artists, galleries and other art-related entities. The FOTM collection is utilized by museums, curators, scholars and media. The archive contributes to publications, exhibitions, books and catalogs. The artist portraits and accompanying biographical statements are exhibited regularly. ALL FOTM’s PROGRAMS originate from the archives.

Learning to See (LTS) Outreach – compelling lessons inspired by the life and work of our Documented Artists to over 250,000 students throughout Ventura County to date. LTS serves students in school and community centers, k-8, and adults with mental illness in partnership with the Turning Point Foundation’s Quality of Life Program.

Artist Spotlight – Monthly meet-the-artist live interviews at the Museum of Ventura County. To date 246 artists have been comprehensively documented. The Artist Spotlight is the culmination of in-depth documentation, consisting of recorded oral histories, written biographies, slide/visual library, video recordings, ephemera and photographs that become the artist’s archive.
