The work of Audrey Sanders, in her own words, “takes a middle ground between painting and sculpture.” She “compares her non-objective works to rhythmic linear relationships between order and chaos, architectural segments or physical boundaries such as the wall of a building or a section of fence.” Critic Barbara Johnson writes, “Very much in the forefront of today’s art, Sanders’ innovative experimentation with conventional materials invites the viewer to become involved and aware of this very unique approach.”
Sanders earned a master of fine arts degree in painting from California State University and California State San Jose and has taught extensively in Southern California. Her work has been collected and exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Tokyo. Sanders and her husband, artist Jeff Sanders, reside in Ojai.
