We are currently offering Visual Arts Integration Training and personalized support to 17 teachers in grades K-5 at two schools, Ventura and Oxnard. The dedicated meetings have brought forth rich, enthusiastic, and enlightening conversations from both sides of the table. Each meeting has been eye-opening regarding what the students are struggling with in visual arts execution and basic hand-eye coordination and the teachers’ lack of tools to guide them. Through our conversations, we are determining exercises to build student skills and demystify art processes and materials for both students and educators.

What is Visual Arts Integration Training?
A collaborative program instructing classroom teachers how to incorporate cross-curricular art lessons into a specific science, history, language arts, or math unit for their grade level. Arts Integration Training addresses the hesitation and barriers that individual teachers have with adding art to their units of study. Examples include:

  • Lack of time – to create a successful lesson plan and source the supplies;
  • Understanding the language of art, (both verbal and visual), and its commonalities with other subjects;
  • Knowledge of the use of art materials; and
  • Understanding what the creative process looks like.
  • LTS tailors comprehensive, cross-curricular art lesson and training for each classroom teacher, increasing equity in learning for students. Tuition varies. Click HERE to learn more.
