Richard Amend

Richard is the husband of Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend (found elsewhere in Artist’s Gallery). It is often the case that when documenting one artist, by the nature of a marriage, the other becomes part of the archive. To save time and money, I will often photograph the spouse on the same date. As with any lighting situation the challenge is to make the environment look natural. His studio was lit with strobes, both inside and outside, being careful not to create reflections on the surfaces of the paintings.
